The new deadline to file a claim is Friday, August 30, 2024. Deadline extended for companies to file claims for undue charges by Visa and Mastercard.
Businesses and other merchants that accepted Visa and/or Mastercard credit or debit cards in the U.S. between January 1, 2004, and January 25, 2019, may be eligible to file a claim for improper charges. Even closed or bankrupt businesses, or those that have changed ownership, can file a claim.
The new deadline to file a claim is February 4, 2025. Claims can be filed at the PaymentCardSettlement.com portal., or by mail. The massive $5.5 billion settlement is the largest antitrust class-action settlement in the country’s history.
This extension helps all eligible businesses, tiny businesses, which often have limited resources, by giving them more time to take action.
“This is a step that helps ensure that more businesses can file a claim and participate in the unprecedented class action “In re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation,” said Alexandra “Xan” Bernay, co-lead counsel on the case and a partner at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP.
Bernay added that only businesses that file a claim before the extended deadline will receive money. The settlement comes after a 19-year court battle centred on business owners who paid allegedly inflated Visa and Mastercard interchange fees.

How much can my business earn?
There is no set amount: Payments will be calculated after all claims are submitted and validated and will depend on the value of all eligible payment card transactions and the number of claims received, among other factors, and could range from tens of dollars to hundreds of thousands.
